The Exat typeface captures the very essence of modernist ideas, striking a harmonious balance between form and function, whilst being aimed at contemporary users. It undeniably references one of the most popular typefaces of all time, all while incorporating extraordinary width and weight options in a robust character set. Exat supports Latin and Cyrillic scripts—covering more than 430 languages—and includes features and stylistic sets inspired by local Croatian graphic design quirks, such as modified thin accents. What’s specific to this design is that it started as a redrawing of a single letter “a” and the desire to craft a typographic world around it. We wanted to construct a typeface that would bear witness to the local story of our homeland, but also be used by creatives all around the world, without necessarily having to know how it came to be. Exat is inarguably our most ambitious release yet, offering the user total control in choosing the right type—fit for any situation.

FilmUnlimited is a collection of Resolve 17/18 PowerGrades emulating Kodak 5207 250D and Kodak 5219 500T film. It’s a full PowerGrade rebuild of the negative film stocks I shot and profiled in November 2018 and January 2021. Designed for Davinci YRGB color science. And as of December 8 2022, now rebuilt for native Resolve Colour Managed (RCM) workflows. RCM versions designed for the Davinci Wide Gamut/Davinci Intermediate colour space/gamma. When I started project in early 2021 I had two goals. Create an accurate reproduction of the two stocks, and build them in way that offers maximum flexibility to allow me to achieve the looks clients request. At the time of writing I’ve used FilmUnlimited on all but one digital project since the Release of Resolve 17. It’s now my main PowerGrade. I’ve used it, tested it, tweaked then tested it some more. Now it’s your turn.

Juan Melara - Kodak 2393 – DaVinci YRGB Print Film Emulation PowerGrades

The Kodak 2393 LUT is my favourite of the Kodak Print Film Emulations (PFE). It’s cleaner than the 2383 PFE, with richer, purer colours particularly in the shadows. It also features deeper and more defined blacks vs 2383. I like to use 2393 on projects where I want the film look but without the muddiness of 2383. Scroll down to see a comparison between the Kodak 2393 PowerGrade and the real Kodak 2393 LUT. This 2393 PowerGrade is built differently to my previous 2383 PowerGrade. It’s a lot easier to understand and a lot easier to edit. While at the same time being a lot more accurate.
