Sam Hurd - Wedding Portraits at Night: Canon EOS R, Canon 24mm f/1.4, Lightroom
https://www.patreon.com/c/samhurd
- Full deconstruction and analysis of one of my favorite photos from the Canon eon R w/ canon 24 1.4 lens during a night wedding in Detroit. I go from beginning to end with editing, and sharing other contextual images leading up to the final photo. I take a deep dive into a specific photo, discussing the background and context of the wedding shoot. I explain why this particular photo stands out and how it differs from my personal favorites. I also explore the composition and lighting techniques used in the photo, including the addition of reflections. Then, I walk through my editing process in Lightroom, highlighting my preferences and adjustments. Finally, I discuss the finalizing and exporting of the edited photo as a JPEG. Overall, this conversation provides insights into my approach to photography and editing.

Sam Hurd - This is How AI Revolutionizes Photography
https://www.patreon.com/posts/this-is-how-ai-84727718
As mentioned in my previously posted video... I've been working a LOT to get a completely seamless experience of sending an image (or many images) from my camera fed directly into midjourney, which then creates an Ai render to (hopefully) inspire a new idea as I'm actively shooting a session. Well, I've done it. It took a TON of work. Probably close to 30 hours, but it's working... and it's fast. About 1-2 minutes and the ai renders simply show up on my phone... or even my apple watch. This post does not provide a tutorial to do this yourself... that will come soon enough in another post.

Sam Hurd - Stress-Free Wedding Day Family Group Photos
https://www.patreon.com/posts/stress-free-day-92215746
I thought I'd resurface some of the most important posts I've made that might be a bit buried in the back catalog. I recently came across a brand new photographer who booked their first wedding and asked about preparation for family group photos. This is one KEY post that everyone should find helpful!

Sam Hurd - High-end Retouching w/ Blended Ai - and no brushes! // video
https://www.patreon.com/posts/high-end-w-ai-no-101426636
This is a quick and easy method I came up with to use AI rendered technology blended with an original source photo to create extremely realistic skin tones and overall high quality retouching. Once the ai render is made, it's basically a one-click solution, but you can infinitely customize to taste. Retouching skin isn't something I do a lot of (almost never for wedding work), but I recently did a batch of staff portraits and wanted to test a new Ai rendering model I came across called Leonardo. I developed a specific recipe of settings that work in an extremely realistic way! Left is original photo, right is using my method of blending an ai render with a source photo

Photo Deconstruction Nikon D4 + Sigma 85mm f-1.4 HSM -- video + article
https://www.patreon.com/posts/photo-nikon-d4-f-98934622
Over the past few years, I've noticed a shift in my tendency to get wrapped up in feeling like everything I share with other photographers needs to have some kind of overarching complex, technical, in-depth talking point. This could range from the specifics of the gear used, a brand-new piece of gear or software, a fancy technique during capture/editing, or some extreme "making something out of nothing" environmental behind the scenes. Often, I'm so fixated on figuring out these talking points that I hit a kind of paralysis before I even begin, ending up posting nothing at all because by the time I start to get a handle on it, life has moved on, and I either have no time or I'm bored with whatever half-baked idea was in progress. There's also the exhaustion of creating a thing for patreon, figuring out how much to make free, or put behind the paywall, only to then need to create all the things (reels, stories, summaries, titles, thumbnails, clips, etc etc etc) so that I attract new patrons as supporters come and go.

Sam Hurd - How To Plan Ahead For Light & Shade // video tutorial
https://www.patreon.com/posts/how-to-plan-for-105374717
Someone DM'd me an interesting website called Shademapp.app, and it looks really freaking useful for what we photographers need! Also, it's free. Just go to the website https://shademap.app/, type your location, and swipe around to the time of day you're interested in. It shows you a 3d map of how the sunlight vs shade will interact with all objects, even trees, based on their height! There's another app I've mentioned here a few times over the years... http://photopills.com They use augmented reality with your actual phone's camera to overlay the position of the sun (or moon!) with where you are: This is extremely helpful if the sunset is officially 8:30pm, but falls below a treeline, or building etc earlier than that. That's all! Hope you're all doing well, and let me know if there are any other tools you find useful like these two :)
