Ornamental Treasures is a very special series of font families never before released. This is a form of artistic expression which was developed between the 9th and 15th century at the centers of the Byzantine civilization. The majority of Byzantine art is represented with wall paintings, mosaics, iconography and illuminated manuscripts. Unfortunately, these historic treasures were kept from the public eye for centuries. Following an extensive research, Parachute unearthed these treasures and created an unprecedented series of ornaments with great interest to designers, architects, scholars, artists, researchers and students. An attempt was made to create a series which works equally well for historic as well as contemporary applications. Furthermore, each package includes up to 9 fonts (layers) per glyph, which enable the user to create with an unlimited combination of colors in any program, without converting glyphs to outlines. Malabar is a type family for extensive text. Its design was developed with a nod toward newspapers. Malabar's characters are seriffed and of the Old Style genre. A strong diagonal axis is apparent within the curves. Sturdy serifs help strengthen the line of text in small point sizes, as well as define the overall feeling of the face. Malabar's x-height is very high, a deliberate choice that makes the most important parts of lowercase letters visibly larger in tiny settings. The height of the capital letters is also rather diminutive, allowing for better character fit, as well as eliminating a bit of clumsiness in German, which often includes quite a few uppercase letters. The family includes three weights, each with a companion Italic. Malabar Regular is equipped with small caps, and both it and Malabar Italic include oldstyle figures. All members of the family have both proportional and tabular-width lining figures, as well as special variants of certain punctuation marks vertically adjusted for all-caps text setting. Malabar is informed both by contemporary ideas of typeface design (sheared terminals, the wider-drawn s) as well as by 16th-century masters. Malabar Heavy and Heavy Italic are very loud; their blackness almost shouts out from the page. The Regular's wedge serifs become more slab-ish in nature as the letters' weight increases. Malabar Heavy and Heavy Italic are best relegated to headline use only. Malabar Bold and Bold Italic may be used for text emphasis, a job for which the Heavy is to dark.

Saloonkeeper, with its western looking spurs, was inspired by the Leinenkugel’s brewing label. The Saloonkeeper Pro font family introduces something new for script fonts, it’s called the Shadow Layer font, script fonts have connecting letters and this makes it difficult or impossible to create an open faced shadow version and make the letters connect in proper alignment with each other. The solution was simple make a separate font for the shadow that’s in registration with the first font, you must use an application that allows you to work in layers in order to take advantage of this special font. The Shadow Layer font was designed to give the letters a cast or extruded shadow appearance that you would find in sign lettering versus the standard drop or offset shadow that can easily be created in most graphic arts programs. Old Thunder is a revival of an 1800’s Tuscan style font called Lavinia, we've expanded the original font to include a lowercase, an Open faced version, a very attractive Black face and last this set just wouldn't be complete without a Fill font. When you see the word Fill in a fonts name this describes its purpose which means the font is intended to be used for filling in the open space of its parent font or the Open faced shadowed version from that font family or group. Some Fill fonts look as if they may be used as stand alone fonts but others simply do not look good used as a plain font. The Fill font for Old Thunder was designed to work as both a fill and a regular font, although when used as a regular font the letter spacing will appear a little wide. If needed the spacing can be adjusted in some applications font settings, check the help file in your application for further information on spacing.
