With the plethora of string machines and multi-keyboards produced throughout the 70s and early 80s it would be almost impossible to include every string-type instrument within VSM. But with release of the VSM Expansion Pack containing instruments sourced and recorded over a seven year period, we believe we're offering the largest single collection of string synths available within any digital format.

When we recorded the White Grand and the White Sister our goal was not to create ”the ultimate Grand Piano”. Since a Grand Piano can be used in so many ways, from playing Mozart to hammer out Jerry Lee or Little Richard stuff and everything in between, we realized that there isn’t anything that could be considered ”The ultimate Grand Piano” in the world of multisampled instruments.

Few instruments get fans of funk grooves drooling like the Hohner D6 clavinet. Originally intended for classical harpsichord-esque duties, but really sonically closer to an electric guitar than a piano, its twangy, spanking timbres add a melodic tension to a groove like nothing else. To achieve the iconic funk sound it is paired with a wah-wah pedal - one of the earliest examples of this was on Up On Cripple Creek by The Band in 1969.
