A new tutorial from Milivoj Popovic. Milivoj has worked on several film and TV productions, his work has also been featured in Autodesk’s Mudbox brochure and the Expose series of books from CGSociety. In this complete project-based training kit he covers modeling both the character and environment, texturing and lighting of the full scene, as well as posing the character and some post production for the final shots. This tutorial contains the full scene files and was done in Lightwave 9.6. Users of Lightwave 9 and 10 will be able to follow this tutorial with no problems.

Most rigging tutorials focus on the use of Armatures. In this course, however, we’ll rig a complete aircraft model in Blender using only constraints, empties, and parenting relationships. This allows for very fast rigging with no need for weight painting of any kind (whew!). It’s not too useful for characters, but it works great for mechanical objects like this fighter jet.

Blender does a very good job being the all-in-one creation suite. It’s got 3D of course, painting, compositing, tracking, AND video editing! And while a lot of software that tries to do too much end up failing, Blender’s video editing suite is a solid alternative to commercial editors. This tutorial is an introduction to the “VSE”: Video Sequence Editor.

 In this 29 hour long project we build a realistic replica of an M4 Sherman tank. Using both polygon and subpatch modeling techniques we create all the different parts of the tank, such as the turret, guns, hatches, wheels and tank treads that can be animated. As it’s one of the longest tutorial ever produced in LightWave, and the model is so highly detailed, we recommend it to artists with some prior modeling experience.
