The Gnomon Workshop - Advanced Compositing - Keying & Creating 2.5D Projections
https://thegnomonworkshop.com/tutorials/advanced-compositing-keying-creating-2-5d-projections
This advanced compositing workshop guides you through compositing a shot, from start to finish, following the principles that would be expected of you in a real VFX production setting. Over the course of 3.5 hours, you’ll comp a photorealistic VFX shot while learning helpings of tips and tricks from Meliza, a Senior/Lead Compositor and Lead Digital Matte Painter, including how to solve common compositing problems that even professionals run into when working in Nuke.  Meliza begins with a lesson in color space, explaining how to work in linear, without compromising an original log plate. You will then do a 3D camera track in Nuke, and use this information to build a 2.5D background. Meliza provides subscribers with a layered digital matte painting to use; she instructs how to project these layers into cards. Meliza also teaches the important keying techniques that she always uses in production and that have proven successful on even the most difficult green- and blue-screen shots.  Once the tracked background and keyed plate are done, Meliza shows how to add 2D elements from Action VFX to bring the environment to life. As the final step, you will learn how to create a depth matte, match focus, and add grain.  Working knowledge of Nuke and some experience in compositing is required for this workshop, though artists of all levels will find inspiration in Meliza’s insights and workflow.  Project files provided with this workshop include Meliza’s Nuke assets. A PDF containing useful links to download assets directly from Action VFX is also provided for those that want to utilize the same assets as featured in this workshop.

The Gnomon Workshop - Designing Creature Makeup for Film in Photoshop
https://thegnomonworkshop.com/tutorials/designing-creature-makeup-for-film-in-photoshop

Designing makeup concepts for film and television is an important skill set for concept artists at the Wētā Workshop in New Zealand, known for decades of groundbreaking work. Join Senior Concept Designer Johnny Fraser-Allen as he shares his Photoshop techniques to effectively design character and creature makeups in this four hour workshop, with tips aimed at artists of all levels.  This detailed workshop will teach you how to deliver and lock down approved designs for the film industry. Aimed at the early stages of a production, the Photoshop-based techniques covered will allow for quick ideas to be delivered to the director as well as tackling quick changes needed to rework designs into alternate options for the same brief.  Starting with a quick warm up, Johnny goes through the steps required to build an original creature makeup design, before starting on three Ogre Lord concepts over the same actor. This same process is how he designed and reworked director notes for the BFG for Steven Spielberg, dwarves for Peter Jackson, and goblins for the Jim Henson Company.

The Gnomon Workshop - Mastering Body Mechanics in Maya
https://thegnomonworkshop.com/tutorials/mastering-body-mechanics-in-maya
One of the best things you can do to improve your animation workflow in Maya is to learn how to animate with the Master Control. While the Master Control is generally used for the placement of 3D characters, it can also be used to make the animation process a lot simpler — providing that you use it correctly.  This method taught in this 4-hour workshop by Senior Animator Kevin Nguyen can be implemented by animators of all levels, and can be used in both personal projects or professional production shots. It eliminates a lot of the technical hurdles in posing when animating a shot that requires a lot of movements, especially very complex character mechanics.  Kevin’s method will not only simplify the process of animation in Maya, but should ultimately save the animator a lot of time, which is a precious commodity in production. This workshop will help animators to work more freely and focus more on the artistic side of the animation process, rather than being held back by the technical side. This workshop also offers useful workflow tips and tricks to help improve the overall efficiency of any existing animation workflow.

CGCookie - Rig Blender\'s Character Rigging Playbook
https://cgcookie.com/courses/rig-blender-s-character-rigging-playbook

Don’t you hate it when you try to learn something from a video tutorial only to forget everything by the time you go to put that learning into practice? Nobody wants to watch all that content again just to remember a few of those small bits you can’t quite remember.  RIG is a little bit different in that regard.  The aim of this course is 2 fold. First it aims to teach you the why and how behind some of the most common setups you will need to master for rigging a biped character. Secondly it aims for you to never have to watch the tutorials again by providing you with all the detailed schematics of each of the setups and teaching you how to read them.  It’s like having the recipe book full of all the main meals you’re going to need to make. If you forget how to make that meal, you can look it up in the recipe book and get an instant reminder.  This is the first of many releases, with this initial launch focused on all the parts that are common to most biped characters you are likely going to rig. Later releases will focus on modular parts that are more style specific. (for example, different types of facial setups etc)
