What do photography and graphic design have in common? Quite a bit, actually! They are both visual artistic media. If you are a photographer and you’ve never thought about how your discipline overlaps with that of a designer, you are missing out on a wealth of very helpful information and insight.

Visual design is built on a foundation of concepts and principles that have been developed over centuries by painters, sculptors, illustrators, and other fine artists. They have spent generations mastering techniques of presenting visual information in ways that are intentional and communicate emotion. These techniques hold a lot of value to anybody creating artwork in a visual form, and that includes photography.

In this course you'll learn about four foundational concepts of design: line, shape, color, and visual weight. I'll you show you how they work and how you can use them, and I’ll give you some fun photo assignments to explore your new graphic design skills out in the world.
