There are a few exercises that you need to do:

1. Bring camera in aperture priority mode and learn the depth of field concept. 
2. Bring camera in complete manual mode and adjust the values manually and see how it effects your exposure.
3. Give yourself a goal of waking up at sunrise and sunset at your favorite spot and plan how you will shoot the scenes there.
