By the end of this photoshoot, Karl had captured model Brittany in a variety of poses, with a variety of facial expressions. His first priority in Photoshop is to combine the best elements of those shots into a single, convincing image.

In this class, you’ll see Karl use layer masks to combine multiple layers, making Curves adjustments to level out variations in exposure and to tweak the contrast where necessary.

As as he retouches the shadows under the square frames, Karl demonstrates the clone stamp tool, plus the importance of adding noise. He also uses the healing brush to smooth out the frames themselves.

You’ll also watch Karl use the liquify tool to adjust the model’s hair, burning and dodging to add vibrancy to the image, and create a hue saturation layer to make subtle refinements to the exposure.
