Animation might seem complicated, but you can create animated work very easily with Adobe After Effects! This class is about learning the tools to navigate After Effects, as well as the various functions they can perform. Once you have an understanding of those tools, you will be able to use them to create simple and complex animated work such as:

  • Editing still images or illustrations to create the illusion of movement, also known as "kinestasis."

  • Time remapping - useful for editing the timing of animation and film clips.

  • Lip syncing to audio tracks, which is great for creating parodies or voiceover for animated characters.

Are you an illustrator who has always been interested in animating your work but never quite knew how? As a student, I switched majors from illustration to animation my sophomore year. I found that nothing helped me adapt my illustration skills to animation better than the classes that taught me to edit my work in After Effects. This class will not only give you the skills to animate your illustrations, but the guidance to take it a step further and create fully animated shorts of your own!
