Shadow: A dark figure or image cast on a surface by a body intercepting light.

Umbra: Latin for 'shadow.' It is the darkest part of the shadow, the absence of light.

Using LED video lights and flashlights, learn Beckstead's favorite shadow-casting methods using crazy props and found objects. A wire bread basket. The backs of chairs. Potted plants. A glass of water.

Amazing and endless! With a willing model or client I can take these shadows to a whole new level! Shadows wrapped around a person's face and body is an extremely interesting effect.

Dynamic! The shadows I can cast with an ordinary cheese grater will blow you away!

This course demonstrates how to:

  • Learn fashion, romantic, and abstract lighting with a variation of light temperatures
  • Build dynamic compositions with light
  • Open a whole new world of photography in dark situations
