Sonic / Acustic Logging What you'll learn Introduction to Tecnique Exemple of Using Sonic Logging during drilling - Presentation of Techlog Schlumberger Software Identification of Gas bearing - Using Sonic Logging during completation and cementing Implenting Data acquired in Techlog Best Functionality of Techlog Requirements Petrophysical Skills Geological and Straaphycal Skills Description Course will explain the basics tecniques use while we are drilling to investigate the subsurface and the aroud layers to understand porosity and principale properties of layers.Petroleum applications of acoustic-wave-propagation theory and physics include both:Surface-geophysical methodsBorehole-geophysical methodsAcoustic logging is a subset of borehole-geophysical acoustic techniques.Acoustic logging includes those techniques that use a transducer to transmit an acoustic wave through the fluid in the well and surrounding elastic materials. Several different types of acoustic logs are used, based on the frequencies used, the way the signal is recorded, and the purpose of the log. All these logs require fluid in the well to couple the signal to the surrounding rocks. Four types will be described here: acoustic velocity, acoustic waveform, cement bond, and acoustic televiewer.Historically, the primary and the most routine uses of acoustic logs in reservoir eeering have been:Porosity deteationIdentification of gas-bearing intervalsCement evaluationContinuing developments in tool hardware and in interpretation techniques have expanded the utility of these logs in formation evaluation and completion (fracture) design and evaluation.Borehole acoustic-logging measurements are used in a wide variety of geophysical, geological, and eeering applications and play an important role in the following undertakings.Evaluating reservoirsReducing exploration and production risksSelecting well locationsDesigning completionsIncreasing hydrocarbon recoveryAt the end of couse we try to show method and software to do interpretation.
