When we think something is classic, high quality, a representation of the finest of its or something with enduring appeal, we refer to it as vintage. The Oxford dictionary however defines the word vintage as ‘denoting something from the past of high quality, especially something representing the best of its kind.’ And so, with this knowledge of what vintage is, how can we transfer this beautiful artistic art into the homes that we live in? A vintage home is not just one era, but a fleet of eras that cover up to six decades of styles and designs. And in those decades we will find different styles such as Shabby Chic, Retro, Rustic Vintage, or Industrial themes. This course will introduce you to those special themes so that you will be able to design your vintage home with confidence, as well as the homes of others. Vintage items have all- high attractiveness and charm, personality and personal stories. People want to be part of history. Here are a few reasons why more people would want a vintage-designed home: a. Quality: A vintage item would have been made with higher quality, built to last longer, but will come with a cheaper price tag. This is due to most of these items being found in second hand shops. b. Value: Vintage items are made to last longer when compared to their new counterparts thereby costing the customer less in the long run. c. Recycled: People are more environmentally friendly, and so they will rather use recycled items to support the planet. d. Individuality: Everyone is unique with their unique taste. Vintage styles enable individuals to create unique designs for their homes. e. Style: Vintage oozes class and style. It looks good and can be mixed and matched with modern furniture.
