This video session covers Microsoft’s Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructure and how it is used for Internet access and the Active Directory. We will cover what DNS does and how it is used to find TCP/IP addresses, given a host name or fully qualified domain name (FQDN), and vice versa. We’ll see how DNS works in the overall hierarchy of the Internet. We’ll then look at how DNS is used in the Active Directory. Lastly, we’ll suspend the DNS service and see how its absence causes problems for client computer access to network resources.
