We'll begin this process by sketching out some rough concepts for what our character's armor and attire will look like. During our sketching we'll focus on creating some variety across the designs and discuss other elements that we can draw inspiration from as we sketch.
From here we'll settle on a sketch to work from and begin the process of rendering each piece of armor and attire in gray scale. We'll take a layered approach in how we paint each piece of armor and talk about controlling our values to get the look we want for each. Following this we'll focus on painting scratches and dents on various pieces of armor for added visual appeal. Once we have painted all of our armor and attire for our character, we'll spend some time working on the entire design to refine little details. Finally, we'll learn how to apply some color to the piece without altering our values.
After following this step by step approach, you'll be able to creatively conceptualize and paint armor and attire for your own character designs.
