- In this training kit we take you through Maya's fluid dynamics system, topics covered here are 2D and 3D fluid containers, shading fluids, nparticle integration with fluids and fluid sculpting. All scene files are included and the final effects created can be seen in the video below.
- Lesson 1: Smoke FX with 2D Fluids
- Lesson 2: Dissipating Ink with 2D Fluids
- Lesson 3: External Forces with Fluids
- Lesson 4: nParticles & 3D Fluid Interactions
- Lesson 5: Flaming meteorites I
- Lesson 6: Flaming meteorites II
- Lesson 7: Flaming meteorites III
- Lesson 8: Emitting Fluid from Geometry
- Lesson 9: Plasma Fire FX
- Lesson 10: Fuel Bomb FX
We start off by exploring some uses for the 2D fluid container by creating an ink dissolve effect. From here we continue with creating smoke and fire in the form of flaming meteorites, in this part of the tutorial we'll be looking at not only creating and shading the smoke and fire but also integrating nparticles with Maya fluids. In the final parts of this tutorial we cover how to use animated geometry to sculpt fluids.
By the time you're finished with this tutorial you will have some insight into how Maya fluids work and how you can use nparticles alongside fluids, as well as applying geometry to get more control over your fluid simulations.
