Introduction to Stereo 3D In this chapter we’ll look at how the phenomenon of stereoscopy occurs in real life and discuss how After Effects can re-create and render this effect for stereoscopic 3D broadcast.

“Faking” 3D Tracking 3D tracking, or “match-moving,” is the process of tracking camera movement. After Effects does not have this capability, but you can use a combination of 2D tracking and some basic 3D animation to create a similar effect. In this chapter we’ll place 3D text layers into the shot so that they appear to be following the same camera moves as the footage behind.

Adding Effects, Transparency, and Styles In this chapter we’ll add effects, blend modes, and layer styles to the text so that it appears to blend into the shot.

The Stereoscopic 3D Workflow This chapter focuses on the actual stereo 3D workflow in After Effects CS5.5 and serves as a good overview of the comp structure and workflow you must adopt when working in a S3D environment.

The lessons are wrapped in a feature-rich interface that lets you jump to any topic and bookmark individual sections for later review. Full-Screen mode provides a hi-def, immersive experience, and Watch-and-Work mode shrinks the video into a small window so you can play the videos alongside your application.
