The term “starving artist,” needs to go away forever. Art may be fun, but it’s also work that takes time and money. And it can provide value for other people. Artists should be able to make money from their craft if they choose.
Now, this class is not about quitting your day job and becoming a professional artist. Although some of what we cover applies to artists at any level. This class is geared toward people like myself who create art as a hobby but still want to make some money from it, at least to cover the costs of materials. We’ll talk about commission work, contracts, and developing your online presence.
These are tips I’ve picked up through my own personal experience. I can’t guarantee you’ll make money after watching these videos. No matter how much advice you take in from various sources, getting paid for your art is often a long process of trial and error. What’s worked for me may not work for you. Or maybe you’ll figure out some tips of your own that aren’t covered here. I just want to give you a foundation to build upon as you start your own journey as an artist.
