In this class I will teach you a whole pattern design workflow from starting drawing and creating pattern layouts on the iPad to finishing the pattern swatch on the desktop using Adobe Illustrator and the Creative Cloud.
You will learn how to design beautiful rosettes and paisley shapes in Adobe Illustrator on the iPad using all available drawing tools and repeat functions. At the end of this part we use the grid repeat to find balanced pattern layouts in varying degrees of complexity.
After that we hop over to our desktop to give our pattern tiles the finishing touches, they would need to be deliverable to our clients or POD sites. If you need a little inspiration on the way, I've made 2 pinterest boards for you: It may be of help if you’ve created patterns before, but don’t worry if you haven’t, I will show you all the steps needed to create a paisley foulard pattern like the ones you see here. Of course you can also apply these methods to design patterns in your favorite styles.
One with simple rosette drawing ideas and the other with paisley shapes and patterns using rosettes as their main focus.
