This class is designed to help you understand the fundamentals on creating humorous dialogue and relatable characters for your webcomics.
The class is geared towards beginners who never created webcomics and want to learn the basics in getting started.
We’ll learn how to create punchlines, writing dialogue that captures the reader's attention and going over the process in developing your character’s personality and design. During the class, we’ll look over some examples of other webcomic artists work to give a sense of what makes a webcomic humorous and discussing the techniques they used in delivering effective dialogue. I’ll also share my process when I first developed my webcomics and my original character. For this class, we will be using Comic Draw App (available on the iOS devices via the App Store) and an iPad with Apple Pencil integration. However, if you do not have them on hand, you’re more than welcome to use your drawing tablet with any design software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, etc. You’ll also need a sketchbook when sketching out the character design. By the end of this class, you’ll be able to understand how to streamline your webcomics in an easier fashion, lessen the chances of getting artblocks and have fun in sharing your original character designs with your readers.
