https://www.skillshare.com/classes/Character-Illustration-101-Drawing-Stories-From-Botanicals/692248106

This class is for those who enjoy botanical, fantasy and whimsical elements in their art.
Some experience in drawing and watercolour painting is recommended, but students at a beginner level will benefit from learning techniques in character design and watercolour while tackling this more advanced subject matter.

Learn how to break down the characteristics of botanicals, translating them into clothing and drawing out character detail in the fairy, creating a compelling visual story. Use the skills you gain in story driven art and translating unique characteristics in your future fantasy projects.

You’ll need:

  • A fine pointed lead pencil or mechanical pencil using a hard weight such as 2H lead
  • An eraser
  • Your choice in watercolour paint
  • Selection of brushes for watercolour
  • 300gsm acid free watercolour paper with a smooth finish
  • Gum paper tape (for stretching watercolour paper)

Other mediums such as colour pencil, acrylic paint and digital painting may be used to create the portrait easily by following the core principles guiding the artwork with your preferred medium.
