Description:

In Step 6, you will learn how to select the right material for its function, practicality and aesthetics.

You will then specify finishes appropriate for its use on wall and floor surfaces.

You will also learn how to enhance a space by the layout and mix of your materials.

We are spoilt for choice when it comes to finishes and with that it can be rather overwhelming. It is therefore a good idea to remain objective when choosing finishes for floors, walls, ceilings etc.

As the main surfaces make up the canvas of your room space it is wise to consider carefully what you require from the chosen finish - colour, texture, practicality, and appropriateness to the scheme. The right choice will set the right tone.

You will be creating a palette of finishes to work in harmony with your vision board and colour palette already in existence. Your overall scheme should be enhanced by the chosen finish. The mix of finishes is important and therefore it is necessary to consider transition points between rooms particularly with flooring.
