I have always been drawn to the amazing firework-like seed heads of plants like Queen Anne's Lace or the more humble sounding Cow Parsley. Seeing them covered in frost while out walking, inspired me to paint some. I thought you might like to paint some too.
Using 3 elements, 3 techniques and 3 colours We will create a simple but dramatic watercolour painting. In this class you will discover; * How to get crisp fine lines using a mapping pen for masking. * How to use the "Wet on Wet" technique to paint a sunset. * How to use salt to create texture and pattern. * Why 3 is important for composition and The Rule of Odds. Who is this class for? This is a fun and easy class, suitable for everyone. If you are a beginner, by using and practicing these basic watercolour techniques you will see your confidence and skills grow. If you are more experienced, I hope this class will inspire you to combine techniques in new ways and get your imagination working. Gather your supplies! You will need: Watercolour paper block or paper taped to a board 2 pots of clean water. Masking fluid Mapping Pen or old, fine paintbrush Paper towel or cloth. A palette or plate. A large pointed round brush. I used a size 12. Watercolours, pans or tubes. I used: Yellow Ochre, Rose of Ultramarine and Indigo. Salt. Don't worry if you don't have these exact colours; 3 similar colours that you love will be great. Getting started: As you will need to leave some of the stages to dry, I suggest watching all of the lessons first then follow along at your own pace. I look forward to seeing you in the class.
