In this class, you’ll learn the basics of animal illustration. Using reference photos of real animals, you’ll learn to analyze the shape of the head and the relationship between key facial features to make a super-useful guide that will help you create an illustration that is instantly recognizable, regardless of style or detailing. Then you’ll open your sketchbooks and follow along as we create 3 illustrated characters from the ground up. We’ll start by laying the foundation with basic shapes, then discuss techniques for adding expression and character to your sketch. Finally, we’ll bring it to life with color and texture. At the end of this class, you’ll be ready to create your own character based on your favorite animal and develop it into a mini mixed media project to share with the rest of the class.
