The course will use Visual Studio Code and Love2D. Both of which are free to (Lesson 1 guides you through the installation process). Both of these programs are available on both Windows and Mac. This course introduces students to coding principles while moving towards a finished application. The course will make use of the lua programming language and the Love 2D framework. Lua is a fantastic language to learn as your first coding language; it is easily digested and allows you to get a taste of the core principles of programming. At the end of the course students will take away their completed practice tool and will be encouraged to customize and personalize their app further. The app that we will create is a simple application for the purpose of music instrument practice. The app (when completed and fully functional) will choose a random tempo (for example 120 beats per minute) and a random exercise (e.g. A Major). Upon completion of that metronome cycle, a different combination will be chosen at random. In doing so, you will get hands on with core programming principles and the problem solving required to succeed in future programming endeavours. I hope that you learn to enjoy coding as much as I do and go off to explore your own ideas and creations! I also hope that you make use of your application and that it helps you become a better musician! Section 1: Introduction Lecture 1 Installing Visual Studio Code and Love2D Lecture 2 Let's get 'C Major' written on the screen Lecture 3 Getting a Metronome to Play Lecture 0 Sequencing Different Sounds Lecture 0 Setting a Table of Different Metronome Speeds Lecture 4 Linking the Text on Screen to the Metronome that is playing Lecture 5 More Tempos and a Selection of Exercises to go with them Lecture 0 Countdown rs on Screen Lecture 0 Designing the Pause and Skip Buttons Lecture 0 Implementing Mouse Click Functionality Lecture 6 Pause Button Functionality Lecture 0 Chag the Colour of the Pause Button When Clicked Lecture 0 Setting up the Skip Button Lecture 0 Replacing the Metronome Sounds Lecture 7 Skip Button Animation Lecture 8 Wrapping Up! Lecture 9 Making an Executable File of our App! This course is for anyone who is interesting in getting started with programming. It is especially suited to musicians as the app has a music focus. Having said that, you definitely do not need to be a musician to participate in this course. HomePage:
