Description

This course was created for parents and caregivers of children with developmental delays, ages birth to three years old.Children typically begin more in depth exploration of toys between the ages of 12-18 months. Functional play is a powerful tool for the development of the following skills; Social Skills, Problem Solving Skills, Cognitive Skills, and Language and Communication Skills. Functional Play skills are not often discussed in the context of speech-language therapy. This course aims to change that by highlighting the importance of functional play skills. In this course, I answer the following questions that many parents have asked me, once they become receptive to learning more about functional play:1. What is functional play and why is it important?2. How do I know if my child is demonstrating functional play skills?3.
