You will learn:

Add –ing to the base verb, some may be different.

Wear... Wearing

Choose... Choosing, remove –e.

Tie...Tying, replace –ie with –y.

Shop... Shopping, if it ends in C-V-C, then double the second consonant, if stressed.

 

With my whiteboard and marker pens, I will teach you how to Master them and other important grammar rules too, such as:

If the suffix starts with a vowel and the root words ends consonant-vowel-consonant, then we double the consonant at the start of the suffix.

Occur... Occurrence.

 

If the suffix starts with an –e and the root word ends with an “–e”, then we drop it. “–ge” and “–ce” are exceptions.

Debate... Debatable.

Manage... Manageable.

 

If the root word ends in a consonant and “–y”, then it is changed to “–i”

Plenty... Plentiful

Apply... Applicable

 

If the root word ends vowel and then “-y”, it is unchanged.

Employ... Employed.
