Dub Reggae is the follow-up to Splice Sessions’ first Island Reggae pack from our studio time at Anguilla Music Academy. Dub music originated as a subgenre of reggae and is characterized by remixes significantly manipulating the original recording, usually through the removal of vocal parts, emphasis on the rhythm section (the stripped-down drum-and-bass track is known as a riddim in the reggae dub communities), the use of studio effects such as echo and reverb, and the occasional dubbing of vocal or instrumental snippets from another piece of music or sound. The style was pioneered in the late 1960s and early 1970s by artists like King Tubby, Scientist, Lee "Scratch" Perry, among others.

To celebrate this genre that pushed music forward across continents and styles, we brought some of Anguilla’s most prominent musicians, listed below, together to bring you the essential components of dub reggae along with some song-starters straight from the Caribbean.

All featured musicians on this sample pack include:
•Drums - Jaiden Fleming
•Drums - Kyle Woodley
•Bass - Larry Hodge
•Bass - Curtis Robinson
•Guitar - Gordon Hazel
•Guitar - Daniel Connor
•Keys - Kerwyn Goddard
•Keys - Dady Hodgie
