RiFF/RaFF is kind of a Typewriter-Old-Skool typeface specially designed for Arie Lenoir one of the best Dutch printers. It’s quite a simple and straightforward monospace font that comes in two different weights.
What’s in a name: a RiFF is a tune or melody of a guitar tab in a song and RaFF just means rubble. According to me RiFF-RaFF is a great name and so is this new typeface: Just Use It !

Transcribed JNL - 1 font: $25.00

The term “transcribed” takes on many definitions. In sheet music (the source of this type face design) it means to set down onto paper. In the formative days of radio, and until the advent of the tape recorder, radio stations depended on 16 inch wide recordable discs known as transcriptions.
These discs were generally aluminum base with a soft lacquer coating that was cut with a heated stylus. This was the only way a program could be recorded and preserved for later broadcast or copied for syndication

Vintage sheet music for the 1920s song “Where Did Robinson Crusoe Go with Friday on Saturday Night?” yielded the hand lettered Art Nouveau alphabet for Nouveau Display JNL.
Because the Art Nouveau movement was so influential in the graphic designs of the 1960s “Love Generation” counter culture, this typeface blends itself well with projects crossing many decades and varying styles.

The vast resource of hand lettered vintage sheet music titles offers many interesting and unique variations on even the simplest styles of lettering.
A simple thick-and-thin serif design circa the 1920s-1930s evokes a reminiscence of the Art Nouveau period combined with a touch of what was to come during the Art Deco era.
Most charming is the fact this lettering is free of the formal rules and constraints of metal type, where designers are generally forced into conformity with uniform stroke widths, serif placements and character shapes.

Cast and Crew JNL is a condensed monoline font that lends itself well to any text project where more copy needs to fit into a limited space. A perfect example of this is a movie poster’s cast, director, producer and other acknowledgements.

Vintage sheet music was initially a partial inspiration for what started out as a simple retro typeface, but the basic hand-lettered design from the Art Deco era lent itself to some further experimentation.
Geometric shapes were added to the original monoline letters and numerals and the end result was a marvelous display face called Cafe Society JNL.
During the 1930s, “Cafe Society” was popular slang for the financially privileged during the Great Depression who dined at fine cafes while others who were able to eat out did so at diners and cafeterias.

Lemon Yellow Sun is a line from my favorite Pearl Jam song - Jeremy. It also happens to be the title of a Stiltskin song, so I had to name a font after it. LYS is a tall, all caps typeface with lots of bouncy glyphs and lots of diacritics. Upper and lower case have been designed to mingle, so have a ball!.
