Schotis Font Family

Schotis Font Family

Schotis is a serif family whose letters follow the archetype for ‘modern’ or Didone-style typefaces. They feature vertical axes of stress and are high-contrast. Schotis is designed for use in text. The family’s 14 font styles are divided into seven weights, ranging from Light to Black. Each weight has an upright and italic font on offer. The fonts’ very large character sets – there are more than 1,0000 glyphs in each font — include a wide array of helpful glyphs for use in text typography.

For example, the have full support for the Western, Central, and Eastern European languages written with the Latin script, as well as full support for Vietnamese. The fonts also have a full range of small caps, as well as ten directional arrow glyphs. For Polish-language text, real kreskas are substituted in place of acute accents, thanks to an OpenType localisation feature. Each Schotis font has 23 ligatures, as well as a alternate form of the ‘g’, with an open bowl and an ‘Ñ’ and ‘ñ’ with stylised, more decorative tildes. The fonts’ default numerals are proportional oldstyle figures. Tabular oldstyle figures, as well as lining figures, are available via OpenType alternates. Each style’s zero has slashed-form available, via an additional OpenType feature. Every font includes a full range of superior and inferior glyphs – not only numerals, but also upper and lowercase letters, too. Twenty pre-composed fractions and case-sensitive punctuation round out the’ character sets and OpenType features. Schotis was developed by the Spanish designer Juanjo Lopez.
