With 2 phase oscillators, a noise oscillator, ring modulation, frequency modulation, a sample engine, physical modelling, 4 envelopes, 2 LFO’s and a step sequencer, Ultrabeat is widely recognized as one of the best drum machines on the market and is used by many artists for their dance rhythms. However, despite its power, it often remains one of Logics most unexplored synthesizers due to its complex interface.

For this sessions DVD, we examine Ultrabeat in detail, showing how its configured and how its matrix and synthesis engine works. Throughout, we cover every aspect of the instrument from the routing and modulation through to the step sequencer, sampling engine and the often confusing ‘VIA’ system. Using examples, we show why it has become one of the most important instruments in the production of dance music today.

Session 03: Modulation Engine : 25 Minutes.
Here, we examine the modulation possibilities in Ultrabeat.

Session 04: Example Kicks: 34 minutes
Taking the theory from the previous sessions, we tie it together and show how the synthesis engine can be used to create some powerful kick drums.

Session 05: More Examples: 25 Minutes
For this session we examine how the synthesis engine can be used to create more than kick drums by looking at how to synthesize other percussive instruments.

Session 06: The Sample Engine: 20 Minutes
This session concentrates on the how the sample engine is employed in Ultrabeat and how to use it.

Session 07: The Step Sequencer: 20 Minutes
In this session, we look at the step sequencer and how its employed in Ultrabeat.
