- Charles Gates Sheldon was born in 1889. He made a brilliant career illustrator and still connoisseurs and collectors willing to acquire his commercial art masterpieces. The symbol "Breck Girl" («Brack Girl") in the genre of the pin up in the mid 30s of last century has become a favorite way to American advertising industry and has been used to advertise shampoo for almost a quarter century. Unique pastel drawings Sheldon appeared not only in numerous advertising projects, but also on the covers of major publications. The artist drew thousands of world-famous movie stars for Photoplay, Movie Classic, Screenland and similar magazines about the film industry. He is best known is the work. Sheldon also painted pastel portraits of such prominent personalities as Carole Lombard, Shirley Temple, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo. The images of these and other stars of the 20-30s of the twentieth century had become his most important contribution to the development of a glamorous art.
