This oil painting course is designed for complete bners with little or no previous experience in oil painting. You will be shown every step of the drawing and painting process in real with clear easy-to-follow tuition.

Learn how to improve your paintings by first doing a charcoal composition drawing and then starting the painting process with an Imprimatura underpainting. This technique is hundreds of years old and is in fact my favourite way of starting a painting.Just to be clear this is not the only way to paint but it is a good way to paint most things and a forest is certainly one subject that works particularly well with. If you think about it a forest has lots of dark areas and so the Inprimatura underpainting method is ideal as by putting in the dark, medium and light areas you will get likeness and form very quickly.Another benefit is speed, its such a fast way to paint. On a 120cm (4 foot) wide canvas a basic Imprimatura underpainting without putting in any detail can easily be completed within 45 minutes or so. Your able to make large scale changes to your painting with ease right from the start making sure your composition is just as you want it to be before committing to paint. Therefore it's not only quick and easy to do but it's very cost effective as your not spending lots of mixing colours up before hand.In this course I will show you in step by step stages how to do an effective composition drawing in charcoal first and then teach you how to make an Imprimatura Underpainting so you know exactly where to put the colours on the canvas ready for when you start to paint.

Due to the step-by-step video tuition this is an easy first oil painting study for bners of all ages and ability levels.,It's also a great fun painting to do if you're an intermediate or an advanced painter. I would suggest for those with more experience to use a larger canvas as this is always a greater challenge.
