https://www.skillshare.com/classes/Tropical-Watercolour-Seascapes-Learn-to-Compose-Your-Own-Summer-Paintings/384530728

This class is designed for beginners to intermediate watercolor artists, who would like to learn how to create their tropical seascapes with distant islands and palm trees.

Even if you never painted in watercolor before you took this class, I got your back. We will learn all the basics together and gradually increase all the information, whilst keeping it easy to understand and digest.

The class is separated into 3 major parts:

  • Composing a Painting
  • Exercises
  • Final Projects

In the first part, we will go through all the basics tips and techniques whilst learning to compose well organized and cohesive looking paintings. They will help you to understand how watercolor behaves and why.

This part is including:

  • Basic Watercolor Techniques
  • Loose Watercolor Techniques
  • Perspective and Composition
  • Basic Color Mixing and How to Avoid Muddy Mixtures
  • How to Create Cohesive Looking Painting

Once we know the basics of composing interesting paintings, we will learn how to thumbnail our ideas to build a perception of the way that our final painting project will look. This will take away the fear of blank pages and the frustration of messing up your painting because you are already prepared mentally that this is just an exercise that will help you to explore different techniques and concepts.

In this second part you will learn to:

  • Paint 4 Simple Skies and How They Can Set The Mood for Your Seascape
  • Paint 4 Distant Islands and How to Save Time Whilst Exploring Ideas
  • Choose How Distinct or Vague Each Element Will Be Painted
  • Draw Different Types of Palm Trees

In this third phase of your learning journey, you would already have practiced all the different techniques that you need to attempt a finished painting. Now you can go ahead and jump into the final part of this class where we will paint your final projects. Each of them is created as an easy Step-by-Step tutorial, so you can easily follow along. They are positioned in an order of increasing difficulty, to ensure that you will build your skills better with more practice. I encourage you to follow the order they are organized but feel free to paint them in whichever order you prefer.

For your final projects you will explore:

  • Daytime Tropical Seascape
  • Tropical Sunset by The Beach
  • Boat in Water with a Small Island
  • Fishing Boat Laying on a Palm Tree
  • Your Own Creative Task

By the end of this class, you will have an understanding of how Watercolor behaves and how to work with it, instead of trying to control it. Through learning all the basics you will build a perfect knowledge base and confidence in your skills, so you can implement everything learnt above in your future paintings. You will have completed four step-by-step projects and one creative task. The last lesson is designed to get the most out of your learning. Here you will choose a reference image, create your composition, choose your preferred colors and create your own Tropical Watercolor Seascape. If you are ready for this exciting journey, gather your paint supplies and let's just jump right in.
