Setting a goal or challenge is super helpful in finding that focus you need for your art, so in this class we’ll draw diverse portraits and fill up a page with faces together in a low pressure creative practice. Capturing the personality, expression and mood of a human face can be a challenging subject to master for artists. Following tips and insights gained over years of my artwork practice, you and I will find out what it takes to capture the likeness of someone. We’ll debate the different approaches to portrait drawing, figurative Vs. stylized, and come up with a finely reasoned conclusion. But most importantly we'll enjoy the time we set up for ourselves for drawing!
Sketching in a sketchbook is an intimate process that allows you to get to know yourself better as an artist. It’s a safe place to experiment and develop concepts without the pressure of performing well. Whether you’re looking to grow your skill or to cultivate a daily habit of drawing in your sketchbook, this class will help develop your style and find ideas for new projects. Join me in this creative practice of drawing portraits! Key skills you will learn in class:
