I always thought animating was super hard, but I learned that it's possible to create simple and beautiful animations simply by using Photoshop! In this class, students will learn to create a simple character and animate it by giving it a specific movement.
The class is split into three parts: 1. creating a basic walking sequence with a stick figure, where students will learn the basic process of frame-by-frame animation (In the attached files, I've added a "cheat sheet", with the movements needed to create your walking stick figure); 2. creating a character, planning out its animation, and finalizing that animation; 3. exporting that animation as a GIF and as a video. The only tools required for this class are Photoshop and a drawing tablet, though it is optional to also use an iPad with Procreate. The class is geared towards illustrators who would like to learn a very basic approach to animation and GIFs through Photoshop. This class is a follow-up from my last class, Turn your illustration into an animated GIF, where students will take the basics that they learned in that class and apply them to create more complex GIFs. It is recommended that students without prior knowledge of Photoshop take that class first, as it covers the basic tools and process that will also be used in this class.
