Have you always wondered how to create a seamless repeat that you could use on fabric or gift wrap or wallpaper? I have been teaching this popular class locally, and I have had so many request to make an online version of it that I finally decided to create a new Pattern Design Series for my skillshare students.
In the first class of this new series, we will focus on creating a basic seamless repeat by hand using the paper cutting technique. We will explore different repeat types, from basics to half-drops, brick or mirror and we’ll create a black and white basic repeat tile and learn how to make flow gracefully. Your class project will be to transfer your design to kraft paper and create a beautiful sheet of wrapping paper in white and gold. I will show you how to use your paper scraps to create a set of hang tags using my downloadable template from the resources section. This is a beginners class, no prior experience necessary. You do not need a computer to do the class project or to understand this technique but as a bonus lesson, I will show you how to clean-up your repeat tile in photoshop and how to upload into Spoonflower so you can turn it into fabric, wallpaper or home decor items like duvet cover or tablecloths.
