Part II This course follows on from our original 5 week course and will help build upon the techniques learned in part I Learn how to use your body and your environment to protect yourself and your loved ones. You will gain fast, powerful, unique, practical and highly effective street self-defence skills, along with greater levels of empowerment and confidence as you move through your Arakan journey. Master Robert Kyaw and the Arakan Instructors have taught urban self-protection seminars since 1993 to Law Enforcement officers, medical professionals, mothers, students, people in the armed forces and people from all walks of life. Decades of experience in teaching self-defence to people of all different backgrounds, skill and fitness levels have gone into putting together this online course that will take you step by step through comprehensive weekly lessons to build your fitness and self-defence skills consistently. With each passing week you will build on your skill set and develop an understanding of self-defence techniques. You will grow stronger mentally, physically and emotionally. You will become more adaptable and dynamic through your training and learn ways in which to apply Arakan in your everyday life. What is Arakan Martial Art? Arakan Martial Art was created for the real world. It is not, nor has it ever been, a ‘ring’ or competition based style of sport. With deep roots in the traditional Burmese martial art ‘Burmese Thaing’, Master Robert Kyaw adapted this traditional art to create an effective, highly adaptable and no-nonsense self-protection style that suits our modern world. Arakan Martial Art teaches you how to use your whole body as a weapon - from elbows to knees, open palms, edge hands, closed fists, locks, deflections, traps, blocks, bridges, kicks, forearms, your head – the list goes on! With consistent training you will develop impenetrable defences and intricate footwork that allow you to dynamically flow around an opponent, giving you a huge advantage in a street situation. You will learn to move your body in dynamic ways by developing a greater understanding of body weight, momentum and how to move with a path of least resistance. You will develop an advanced understanding of energy slings and circuits to produce movements with precision, speed, power and flow. You will learn how to use your opponent’s size and energy against them, meaning you don’t have to be the biggest person in the room to protect yourself effectively. We believe everyone has the right to feel safe and have the ability to protect themselves and their loved ones. There is no limit to how dynamic and adaptable you can become on your Arakan journey. Arakan provides you with many choices for how you can respond in any situation, with our main focus always being the personal safety and wellbeing of both you and your loved ones.
