Every weight has both an upright font and an italic on offer. The italic fonts in Syphon are designed in the ‘oblique’ style. The fonts feature a tall x-height. Ascenders rise slightly above the tops of the capital letters, and the the numerals are slightly shorter than the uppercase letters’ height. Lines of text in Syphon can be set tightly and compactly; the uppercase includes no descending elements – both the ‘J’ and ‘Q’ keep all of their strokes between the baseline and the cap-height. Syphon is an excellent selection for use in branding and corporate design. The fonts were developed by Easha Ranade at the Indian Type Foundry in Ahmedabad/India.
