Stanley is a bold and broad-shouldered poster typeface collection in three styles that has its roots in the first sans-serif designs of the 19th century — the Grotesques. Originally a British invention, Grotesques gained massive popularity in mainland Europe and also became widespread in early 20th century USA where they were commonly referred to as ‘Gothics’. The quirky and often idiosyncratic shapes of these early English sans-serifs lend them the humanity and warmth still appreciated among many graphic designers today.
Stanley is part of a bigger collection of what we have dubbed ‘Italo-American Grotesques’. There is also Nitti, a monospaced family suitable for continuous text, its proportional brother called Nitti Grotesk, and a typewriter version called Nitti Typewriter (what else … ;) Stanley is available in three styles, Normal, Stencil, and Stencil Rough, with a large character-set including arrows and dingbats, and wide language support for the Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts. OpenType features provide access to many extras including ligatures, stylistic alternates and different kinds of numbers.
