 .exr | 3840x2160

Overview:

  • This package contains a collection of EXR equirectangular environment maps designed for:
  • Product lighting: Achieve realistic ambient lighting in 3D scenes.
  • Surface control: Analyze material reflections and surface details during modeling.
  • Cross-platform compatibility: Works with any rendering engine that supports EXR format (e.g., Blender, V-Ray, Arnold, Unreal Engine).

Features

✅ High dynamic range (HDR): Captures full light intensity for photorealistic rendering.

✅ Equirectangular projection: Seamless 360° environment mapping.

✅ Preview icons: Small thumbnails show how each map illuminates a mirrored sphere.

⚠️ Rotation sensitivity: Some maps produce drastically different lighting when rotated 90° – experiment for optimal results!

Technical Details

- Format: OpenEXR (.exr)

- Resolution: 3840x2160

Creation process:

- Generated procedurally using Blender + Cycles.

Usage Guide

1. Blender:

- Go to World Properties > Surface > Use Nodes.

- Load the EXR map as an Environment Texture.

- Adjust rotation via the Mapping node for different lighting angles.

Other software:

Import the EXR file as an environment/skydome texture.

Refer to your software’s documentation for HDR lighting workflows.

Tips

- Use the preview icons to quickly compare lighting effects.

- Combine maps with Blender’s Light Path node for advanced material testing.

- For animations, lock map rotation to maintain consistent lighting.

- You can create similar maps by using Blender's lighting setup (mesh lights), environment and compositing node too.
