The Crape Myrtle is a stunning show stopper and a true favorite! Often called the "lilac of the South", this species has striking pink flowers and handsome bark. Its foliage is also very appealing with oval to oblong, shiny medium to dark green with showy, yellow, orange or red colors in the Fall. This fast grower is ideal for urban settings and can be grown as either a shrub or small tree. Besides its beauty, it’s a hardy species great for hot and sunny climates and once established it has considerable drought tolerance. This small, deciduous tree attracts attention throughout the year. In summer, clusters of amazing white, crepe-paper like flowers are produced. After this, the dark green leaves add more interest as they change into autumn, turning a rich bronze-red color before falling. Bark also adds color as the tree ages, with its flakiness showing the rich, brown underbark. A lovely growth habit and resistant to mildew, this variety will endure periods of dryness once established.
