Follow along with supply chain expert Dante Garcia and learn all about supply chain management. Master Supply Chain Logistics, Supply Chain Operations, Supply Chain Planning, Supply Chain Sourcing, Forecasting, Procurement, and more, in this video series on Supply Chain Management. For supply chain logistics, we cover warehousing, inventory, and transportation. For supply chain operations, we explore the Six Sigma methodology for process improvement, as well as the Lean approach to eliminate waste and make processes more efficient. For supply chain planning, we talk about matching supply with demand, and cover various forecasting techniques. For supply chain sourcing, we cover vendor selection and supplier segmentation. The MBA Series contains three curriculums: Business Management, Business Development, and Business Communication. Supply Chain Management is a core course within the Business Management curriculum. Follow this link to take all of the courses in the MBA Series here on O'Reilly. This supply chain management course contains ten topics: Introducing Supply Chain Management. This first topic in the supply chain management course introduces you to the world of supply chain management. Be able to explain the main facets of supply chain management and provide many examples of supply chain management. Logistics is also defined with examples provided, and supply chain and logistics are compared. The characteristics of supply chain are covered, including the role of the customer and supplier. The supply chain flow is introduced, encompassing Supplier, Transport, Reception, Production, Transport, and Client. Supply chain concepts are explained as well, including lead time, manufacturing strategies, and manufacturing design approaches. Forecasting. This second topic in the supply chain management course will equip you to perform forecasting. Forecasting is important to anticipate customer demands, plan resources, and improve techniques. Forecast characteristics are shared along with short term, medium term, and long term forecasting time horizons. Qualitative and Quantitative forecasting are compared. Moving Average (MA) and Weighted Moving Average (WMA) are explained and formulas and examples provided. The four types of demand patterns are discussed: trend, seasonality, cycle, and random behavior. The concept of correlation is presented along with dependent and independent variables. Supply Chain Planning. This third topic in the supply chain management course will equip you to create a strategic business plan (SBP), production plan (PP), master production schedule (MPS), and material requirement plan (MRP). The Bill of Materials (BOM) is explained, along with capacity management. Procurement Management. This fourth topic in the supply chain management course will equip you to perform the process of acquiring new goods, from supplier to client. The goals of procurement management are shared, along with the process of sourcing materials and purchasing products. Warehouse Management. This fifth topic in the supply chain management course will enable you to apply the activities within warehouse management. The challenges of warehouse management are revealed, along with types of inventory (anticipated, safety stock, lot size, and pipeline inventory). The types of inventory costs are shared, along with the concepts of Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) and Period Order Quantity (POQ). Transport Management. This sixth topic in the supply chain management course will enable you to perform transport management. Learn about the different types of transportation, including road, railway, water, air, and pipeline. Learn what Incoterms are, and ways of working with Third Party Logistics Providers (3PLP) and Fourth Party Logistics Providers (4PLP). Learn about the concepts of reverse logistics, Full Truck Load (FTL), Less than Truck Load (LTL), and Service Level KPIs. Operations Management. This seventh topic in the supply chain management course will equip you to plan, organize, control, and follow up the production, manufacturing, or provision of products or services. Process management, Work in Process (WIP), and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) are explained. Total Quality Management. This eighth topic in the supply chain management course will enable you to apply total quality management (TQM). The perspectives on quality are explained, including delivery time, durability, packing, and customer service. The eight TQM principles are shared, along with the seven quality tools (7QT). The concepts of stratification, histogram, cause-and-effect diagrams (fishbone and Ishikawa), Pareto diagrams, scatter diagrams, control charts, and process capability are discussed. Learn about the seven steps in the Problem Solving Methodology and the Six Sigma Methodologies. Lean and Kaizen Management. This ninth topic in the supply chain management course will equip you to perform Lean and Kaizen management. Understand the continuous improvement principles of both approaches. The categories of waste are explained, along with Value Added (VA), Non-added Value (NVA), and Necessary but non-valued-added (ENVA) activities. The concepts of Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Takt Time, Flow Index, 5G, 5S, Poka-Yoke, and Kanban are discussed. We conclude this video with an overview of Toyota's Six Rules. Cost Management. This tenth topic in the supply chain management course will equip you to apply cost management. Know the difference between fixed and variables costs, and direct and indirect costs. Learn all about the income statement, Return on Investment (ROI), cash flow, Net Present Value (NPV), and Internal Rate of Return (IRR).
